NewYork-Presbyterian's cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons are at the forefront of discovery of new approaches to treatment of cardiovascular disease. We have a rich history of innovative basic and clinical research that has led to break-through treatment advances, such as LVAD for the treatment of heart failure, Evalve—a new investigational minimally invasive treatment for coronary valve repair, and gene therapy for heart disease. The Cardiovascular Research Foundation
The Cardiovascular Research Foundation is an organization that was founded to combine the elements of research, education and patient care in the treatment of cardiovascular disease. The primary affiliation of CRF is with the Center for Interventional Vascular Therapy (CIVT) at Columbia University Medical Center, which provides necessary state-of-the-art technology to support CRF's cutting-edge research and whose faculty members serve as research-physicians that drive CRF's ground-breaking achievements.
With its rich network of collaborators in academia and industry, the CRF has pioneered new and innovative less invasive procedures and new drug-based therapies, and has advanced the world's physicians treat atherosclerotic heart and vascular diseases.
Through its collaboration with CRF, Columbia University Medical Center co-hosts the annual Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics symposium – the world's largest meeting in interventional cardiology and vascular medicine. At the TCT, over 10,000 registrants from 80 countries learn the latest interventional techniques.
